Blog Post: IT Services Datacentre Move – Important information for staff and students

From 5pm on Friday the 15th to Monday the 18th of December, IT Services will be relocating some critical servers to a new purpose built facility on the Byrom Street Campus. All computer systems should remain available, however we do advise you save your work more often during this period.

Below are some guidelines for Students and Staff to help ensure that the assessment period goes smoothly. Please remember that Canvas support is available 24/7 either online or by calling 08081894061

Students

If you are submitting assessed work using Canvas, be sure to save your work frequently. Files are retrievable, but this takes time and might mean additional pressure at what is already a busy time in the Academic calendar

When submitting, check to ensure that your submission has processed fully. There will be confirmation of your submission if you navigate to the assignment in question.

Staff

Please ensure that your assignment configurations are all correct and that they are available for submission by students.Using the ‘Student View‘ mode is a great way to view your content from the perspective of your students.

Restate to students the importance of saving work frequently

If you or your students do experience any issues with LJMU systems, please notify Helpdesk immediately. As has been previously stated, it is not anticipated that there will be any availability problems, this is merely a precaution.
