In the coming weeks, we will be auditing Canvas courses to see how well they adhere to accessibility standards and guidelines. The term accessibility refers to enabling access to the web and other systems for people with disabilities.
The Teaching and Learning Academy have been working on a project to improve the accessibility of content created and shared through Canvas. This project is called AiDED and will run for the next 3 years.
As part of the project the team need to understand the level of accessibility of the content in Canvas. To do this we are using an Audit tool developed using best practice in this area. Over the summer the team will work with student interns to audit a large number of current canvas courses across over 30 dimensions of digital accessibility.
The results will be anonymised and shared internally to help promote, support, and change practice.
