Updates to this release have mainly focused on updating minor elements of the announcements, assignments and grading history pages. Canvas have also improved the accessibility of the system for screen readers and made some updates to the mobile app.
Canvas Updates
Announcements – Comment Setting Preference
If you have selected ‘allow users to comment’ when creating an announcement, this option now persists so that you don’t have to enable this option each time you create a new announcement. If you disable this option, then the option will be deselected when you create your next announcement. This setting is associated with your user account and not the course. If you change the comment setting in one course and creates an announcement in another course, the same comment setting will apply.
Assignments- Submission Details Page Sidebar Terminology Update
When a student submits an assignment, the submission details page sidebar displays the assignment status as Submitted. Previously the sidebar displayed the status as Turned In. This change helps align consistency with Canvas terminology.
Quiz Grading History – Auto-Graded Quiz Changes and Grading History Accuracy
Auto-graded quizzes with manual edits retain all grades in the Grading History page. When an auto-graded quiz was manually edited, the Grading History page only displayed the manual grade change and not the original grade. Canvas code has been updated to retain and display all grades for an auto-graded quiz.
Accessibility
Several updates have been made to the accessibility of canvas features. These changes allow additional areas of the assignments, course search results, notification preferences, people search results and speedgrader outcomes to be read by screen readers.
Turnitin Updates
Academic Integrity and Plagiarism Spectrum QuickMarks
Turnitin have new QuickMark sets to help you to teach your students about fundamental aspects of academic integrity and help them to identify problem areas in their paper. You’ll find 28 new QuickMarks magically added your account the next time you log in to Turnitin.
Change the resolution of papers in Feedback Studio
Some Turnitin users reported slow document load times since they upgraded the resolution of papers in Feedback Studio. To combat this, Feedback Studio now offers a “lite” image resolution option for quicker load times. At the bottom of the document viewer, you’ll now find a High Resolution toggle which can be switched On and Off at your own convenience. This preference will be saved for any future visits you make to Feedback Studio, too.

The User Menu supports User Files for instructors. In User Files, instructors can view their existing files and folders, create a new folder, and upload new files.
Discussions – Multiple Due Date Label
The discussions page now displays multiple due dates. Previously, discussions with multiple due dates would only display one due date.
