There are bound to be questions you would like to have answered whilst we are changing to Canvas as our new Virtual Learning Environment

We will do our best to answer any and keep this list up to date.

Answers to questions you may haveā€¦..

Is this a cost-saving exercise?

The pedagogical and technical requirements make up 80% of the evaluation process, which means they take precedence over the cost of the system.

What will happen to my content?

We are arranging migration of relevant existing content from Blackboard into Canvas. This is on track to be completed well ahead of the next academic year

Will the online assessment process be affected?

This is a key process that forms almost a quarter of the overall requirements. The supplier will therefore be selected on how well they align with the current processes, and whether they can provide additional benefits.

What is the proposed timescale for implementation?

The successful VLE service will be announced in mid November 2016 and be in place for August 2017. The first stages of implementation will commence soon after and will include supplier consultation, integration, development and training.

Will Turnitin and Panopto be affected?

No, these services will be unaffected by this change and neither Turnitin or Panopto are being reviewed. These services will continue as before.

I teach on modules not running to the standard academic year

We are aware of non-standard modules and are taking steps to ensure that students enrolled on these are not unfairly disadvantaged

Please return to this site or email us if you have any questions that are not covered above
