Ally is a revolutionary tool designed to take accessibility to new heights in your Canvas courses. Ally goes beyond the ordinary by providing guidance on how you can fix the accessibility issues in your digital course content.  

What is accessibility?

The Web is fundamentally designed to work for all people, whatever their hardware, software, language, location, or ability. When the Web meets this goal, it is accessible to people with a diverse range of hearing, movement, sight, and cognitive ability.

What is Ally?

Ally is an accessibility tool which will help you improve the accessibility of your course content. It will: 

  • Identify accessibility issues 
  • Provide guidance on fixing issues 
  • Create alternative formats for students 

How can you help?

Ally provides an institutional overview of how we are performing as an institution in Canvas. We now have a greater understanding of the types of accessibility issues, and we're handing the torch to you, our incredible educators, to focus on a few key areas. Think of it as your superhero mission, armed with Ally's guidance, we’d like you to prioritise the following issues: 

  • Severe Issues
  • Contrast Issues in documents and pages
  • Alt Text in documents and pages
  • Headings in documents and pages
