Student Guide: Assignment e-Submission

There are several ways to submit your coursework electronically. This guide will explain the various routes and how they differ.

If you aren’t sure whether you should be submitting your coursework online, or can’t find the submission point in Canvas, check with your tutor. All submission points are created in the ‘Assignments’ section of your course.

You can return to your assignment at any time to check the status of your submission.

How to Submit

Canvas has its own assignment tool, but Turnitin (origniality report) tool may be used in combination with Canvas. When Turnitin is also used the assignments are stored within Canvas but are also submitted to Turnitin and checked for plagiarism.

Note: Turnitin Framework assignments have an additional option on this page which asks you to ‘agree to the tools End-User License Agreement.’ before submitting your work. If you are happy to proceed, simply click the box and then click the ‘Submit Assignment’ button.

Turnitin Assignment Note: Turnitin initially runs an originality report against external sources when you submit before the due date. It does not initially match against other students within your course. Once the due date is reached a secondary analysis is performed and this looks for matches against other submissions in your course for evidence of collusion. The overall matches are then added to the report on the due date for your tutor to review.
